You can go to an endocrinologist to discuss the results. Take her for a hand xray to see how much longer she can grow. Have you used growth hormones or given them to one of your children? I don't find that doctors are so quick to prescribe and insurance gave us a very hard time with the first. When those kids use hormones and later develop cancer, the two are mistakenly linked. There is a syndrome (forgot what it's called) that is associated with short stature AND increased cancer risk. For those saying they heard it causes cancer that is not completely true. The doctor said it wouldn't add to projected adult height, just enable them to reach that height.Īs for side effects, haven't experienced any. He has a genetic deletion (SHOX gene) that impacts the body's ability to utilize the growth hormone it produces. I don't remember his current height but he is finally on the standard growth chart. My other kid has been doing it for about three years. He's been doing it almost ten years and is now almost 17 and about 5'5".
